Cold-storage economics

Use the colder tier without making retrieval an afterthought.

Data Convoy helps teams move inactive S3 data toward Glacier storage classes while retaining the process needed to bring it back safely.

The honest cost model

S3 Standard prioritizes immediate access. Glacier classes trade access speed and retrieval cost for lower storage cost. The right break-even point depends on region, object count, retention duration, minimum storage periods, request volume, and retrieval behavior.

S3 Standard

Best for data that remains active or unpredictable; highest storage price in this simplified comparison.

Glacier Flexible Retrieval

Lower storage cost with retrieval time and charges; useful when archives still need occasional access.

Glacier Deep Archive

Lowest storage tier for data that is rarely restored and can tolerate longer retrieval.

Prevent expensive surprises

Restore is classified as destructive/cost-bearing permission. A dry run reports object counts and bytes without issuing restore requests, giving teams a review point before retrieval begins.

Your buckets. Your workers. Your control.
